Charlie turned three and it was so fun to celebrate his special day!! He is happy, easy going, and just radiates joy everywhere he goes. He even walks with a little spring in his step. On our Christmas card we wrote that the happy face emoji is his spirit animal, and a truer statement has never been spoken. We hope he never loses his light because it brings to much joy to those around him.
While Charlie is pleased by almost anything, his passions right now are trains, diggers, the ABCs, Blippi and anything small and precious that he can keep in his bed. For months he has been carrying around a "teensy tinesy diamond" that is so special to him, and it's a miracle it hasn't been lost yet. He also is still very attached to his blue blanket, but is now able to tolerate having Blue go through the laundry, which used to cause epic meltdowns. Other changes for him this past year include now being brave enough to go down a slide and learning to climb in and out of his counter chair by himself, but sadly not using the toilet. Charlie is very resistant to potty training and says he will start wearing underwear when he's twenty. Oh dear...
Charlie at Three Years Old
- Charlie was 31 lbs (48%) and 38 inches (65%) at his well visit. He made huge gains last year in the growth department and has now almost caught up to Davey's numbers at the same age. We are finally putting away the 24 month clothes and moving him into 3T stuff.
- He LOVES the color yellow and anytime he sees anything yellow (cars, cups, clothes, flowers) it makes him happy. If he were a wizard he would be a shoe-in for Hufflepuff House.
- Most of the time Charlie is pure joy, but he can throw a raging tantrum when something (or someone) pushes him over the edge. Luckily those are few and far between though, and most of the time we have happy Charlie to make our day brighter
- His best friend is Rossi and it is so fun to watch them play together. They just follow each other around and laugh at everything.
- He still has a strange relationship with food, but we've learned to stop worrying about it and trust that he'll eat when he wants to. We joke that he's part snake because he'll eat nothing for several meals and then suddenly consume massive portions, which then sustain him until he's ready to eat again. His most requested meal is a peanut butter sandwich with a side of cheese.
- Charlie enjoys music and loves that he is able to ask Alexa to play songs. Favorites include It's Raining Tacos, Happy from Despicable Me, Crazy Train, and song by Blippi.
- When he grows up he wants to live with mommy (not a huge shock as he's always been a major momma's boy).
- Nicknames include Char Char, Char Char Bo Bar, Charbage Truck, Charbanzo Bean, and Charmander
Going to bed as a two-year-old and waking up one year older!!
