September 2021 Roundup

September is always a busy month as school and sports are well underway, but have to compete with the end of summer and all the last minute activities we try to squeeze out of the year before it gets windy and cold. Here are some more September moments:

Charlie made a marshmallow dinosaur at the Discovery Center

It takes talent to only fall half way out of bed

Sophie and Davey built a duplo world

Family picnic at WT with grandparents

Sunday chill time

Playground day with my little buddy while Charlie was at Letter Group

Zoo day with our ward friends

Moments of Griffin being sweet

Davey wrote out a list of all his favorite foods. We never managed to decipher all the entries but it does include bananas, grapes, noodles, watermelon, peaches, ham, and oranges. This kids loves his fruit!

Sophie soaking up time with Toady before the winter hibernation process begins

Charlie got tired of walking on our errands so we rode double in the single stroller

Fun from a quick trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house

The soccer fields are our second home during fall

September 2020 Roundup

We made it through September and the kids are still in school - hooray! The number of COVID cases has doubled in our area since classes started at the beginning of the month, but there have been no big explosions and we have not had any cases yet at Sophie’s school, Davey’s preschool or in the classes that Dave teaches at the university. I’m crossing my fingers that it will stay that way for as long as possible. Just these few weeks of having life be somewhat normal again has been so good for everyone’s mental health and I think it will be hard if or when we have to go back to social isolation.

September also meant the start of soccer season for Sophie! We did not play last spring (covid) so she was so excited to play again. Dave is coaching again, but it's a new group of girls because they reform teams for every season. Because he is coaching however, Emery always gets to be on our team too and Sophie loves playing with her best friend.  We hope it will be another good season!

We also had our had our first taste of fall when a cold front moved through and cooled things off rather drastically. One day it was 98 degrees, and then the next evening it had fallen all the way to the 20s - brrr! Us Texans were not ready for weather that cold and I had to go digging through the attic to find warm clothes for everyone in the right size. It rained a lot and we had big wind, and then a couple days later it was all over and now we’re back in the 80s.

My laundry helper

You can tell fall is on it's way because there is just a slight chill in the air if we go out in the mornings. The days are still plenty hot, but sometimes we do need jackets.

Enjoying a nice day on "Clown Blanket," a favorite of mine from Grandma Mimi when I was little

Davey is our resident melon man

A funny post I saw on Facebook when the cold front moved through and froze all the Texans up in Amarillo. It's crazy how big Texas is and how different things can be for people all living in the same state.

We had to get out our winter gear for a chilly soccer practice

A change of seasons means it's time to change over the closets!

Davey went to a birthday party at Little Bees, a cute little play village. It's pricey so we had never been before and it was fun to try it out. Davey especially loved pretending to be a mail carrier and spent a lot of time delivering letters all around the town.

His best buddy Jaxon was also at the party

Charlie and Rossi were tag-alongs at the party and had a fun time taking care of all the babies in the pretend house.

One more birthday party for his friend Nolan

Flying the kite at the park

Charlie wanted to have his own ball at soccer, so I found this old outdoor volleyball for him to use. It is yellow! And has a happy face! He loves it!

My keys are always soggy thanks to this little guy

Davey and Charlie never take naps any more, but somehow I won the lottery one afternoon when they all decided to sleep at the same time.

Sunday story time with big sister

September Roundup

The boys and I missed a good portion of September while we were traveling, but we fit in plenty of fun adventures while we were home. Here are some other photos from this month:

Kids Night at Freddy's - free kids meals, custard, face painting and balloons!

More slushies at Sonic because September was so hot

Sophie lost another tooth on bottom, bringing her total to five

ALL CHARGED UP: The Discovery Center opened a new exhibit in September. We like the Discovery Center, but it's very small so it's fun when they change things up. The new exhibit was all about electricity and we went on a Saturday so Dave was able to join us!

I couldn't get the bike to light up to the top and told Sophie it was too hard for her, but she wouldn't give up and after a few minutes of pedaling she got to the green!

Messing around with circuits

Dressing up in lineman gear. Our friends' dad/husband is a lineman so the kids enjoyed seeing what kind of tools he uses at work each day.

Having fun with the shadow wall

Baby Iron Man - Charlie has really been enjoying the dress up box lately

SCALES & TAILS: the home school group in our area went on a field trip to Scales & Tails, and since the kids love animals so much I invited our family along. I checked Sophie out of school early and we had a great time meeting and handling different critters!

I held the big lizard and it was surprisingly light for its size. She liked resting on my shoulder just like a baby with extremely long finger nails.

This girl loves her snakes!

The kids were not allowed to hold the tarantula (even though they really wanted to), but they did get to stroke its legs and belly. Later that month Sophie and Emery actually found a wild tarantula at the fields where we play soccer! We wouldn't let them hold that one either.
