March is always the craziest month! The weather does huge shifts, making you feel trapped between summer and winter. Soccer resumes. We have Spring Break, which this year meant OKC and Dallas. And of course we've got all the kids birthdays scattered throughout the month. Plus add in the usual chaos and it makes you feel like you're on a roller coaster just waiting for April to arrive.
We went from single digits in February to sunny park days in just a week's time
It was even nice enough to have picnic lunches and wear shorts!

After returning from Spring Break we got hit with a good snow storm
And I'll emphasize the "storm" part. This wasn't gentle snow fall. It was blasted onto every surface (trees, fences, walls) from the north and really made for a pretty sight.
Once the storm let up the kids had a fun time out in the yard the next day
It brought about 8 inches. Davey had fun collecting snowsicles from around the yard.

I built a snow woman instead of a snowman, complete with apron, utensil arms, lips and shades haha. Now if only she would make these kids some lunch...
Then once again, the snow left as quickly as it came. At soccer practice just a few days later it was nice and sunny!
February is often one of our slowest months of the year, which is not a bad thing! The weather lends more towards indoor adventures, soccer is on hiatus, although Sophie did play Upward basketball, all the Christmas aftermath has long since settled, and there are no birthdays or major holidays. That being said, we still got up to plenty. Here are a few highlights:

Sophie played Upward basketball for the 3rd/4th grade Ducks. After having last season cancelled (covid) it was a slow start this year trying to relearn skills, but she did eventually find her rhythm and was able to score a few times in the later games.

Charlie's Letter Group had a field trip to Fish Pros where we were able to see and touch lots of critters. Feeding the turtles and koi was a favorite of both boys!
First trip to Five Below! We discovered they have dime candy so the kids were able to each fill a bag with the $1 bill grandma had sent them for Valentine's day.

The kids had school off for President's Day so we went to Lubbock with friends to play at the Science Spectrum. Charlie was there even though he didn't make it into any pictures!
Also fun close to home at our own Discovery Center. Griffin is destined to be a star at something someday. So much personality in his little body!
We got to host Letter Group for H. We read Old Hat, New Hat and I invited all the kids to come with a fun hat to show off. Other activities included playing hopscotch, making a Hungry Caterpillar craft and eating honeycomb for snack.
This roundup is short as most of January was dominated by time away in Dallas and Seattle. Dave also made a quick trip to Utah to meet up with friends. Other highlights for the month include Sophie starting basketball (later post), and just getting settling back into home after so much time away over the holidays.

The only pictures I have from Dave's guy trip to Utah. I'm sure they did lots of stuff, but the main activity was a ski day.

I pulled all the games from the cupboard to get organized and find homes for the new ones we got for Christmas. All pulled out it was amazing to see how much that cupboard had been storing!!
We never have a full December at home due to holiday travel, but somehow manage to pack it all in anyways. Here are a few highlights from the month:
Amarillo actually has pretty cold winters for Texas, but we always get a few random days where you can wear shorts and play outside!
Griffin spends his days oscillating between naughty and nice, but either way he's pretty cute

A giant tumbleweed blew in front of our car at school pickup and Sophie jumped out to catch it. She begged to take it home but I said no way. Then a few house down Davey grabbed one of his own!
I took Sophie to Canyon High School's production of The Little Mermaid. We met up with our friends Candice and Emery to make it a fun girl's night.
Davey picked out this cute ornament craft kit at Michael's. No gluing, cutting or sewing needed. He was able to complete it all on his own. So cute!

I hosted the letter C at our house early in December. We had everyone wear Christmas pajamas, ate cheese and crackers with chocolate milk, and played other fun games!
Our annual walk down Candy Cane Lane. This year we did it in pajamas! Griffin clearly had more excitement about the activity than the other boys.
We found a little free library on our walk that had wrapped several of the books in the box, which I thought was such a cute idea
We got a new car!! It wasn't a premeditated move. The Ford Focus was having issues, and when we took it in, the mechanic said fix this part to make it sellable and then get rid of it ASAP before this long list of other things goes wrong. So we did. And due to covid, new cars were in short supply, so we walked into a Hyundai dealer and bought the literal only 5 passenger vehicle on the lot. A mini SUV Santa Fe and luckily it's been a great car so far!
School Christmas parties - I arrived just in time to watch each kid eat a treat and throw away their trash
Griffin, who is always in need of a bath for one reason or another, received these fun jellies as a gift and had a blast sticking them to everything
