Every year there is a commemorative cattle drive through the streets of Downtown Amarillo to honor the city's heritage, and to kickoff the annual rodeo. Some friends told us about it and invited our family to come along! It was a really hot day, but we decided to go, and the kids had a blast.
I was a little nervous when one of the longhorns decided to leave the street and start walking down the sidewalk towards us instead, but luckily he got back in line before a cowboy had to intervene. In addition to the "cow parade", there were also lots of horses, covered wagons, a few old cars and a police motorcade. Cows and sirens are two of Davey's favorite things, so he was basically in heaven. We'll have to mark our calendar for next year so we don't miss it!
