Ready or not, here she comes!

This girl stands on her own all the time now. Today she was up long enough for me to go get my camera and snap a couple pictures. No steps yet, but I bet they won't be too far off!

So proud of my Seahawks!!

It was a happy night at our house! See you at the Superbowl Denver!!

P.S. - there is still a Halloween decoration up in my house. Can you spot it? Guess it's time to do something 'bout that...

Sophie at 10 Months

My baby girl is 10 months today! If I had to choose one word to describe her it would be "busy". Sophie is always on the move and does not like to be still for more than a few minutes (unless there is food involved). She refuses to sit down in the bath tub, tries to climb up on everything, and once fell asleep standing up in her crib. Even when she is in her car seat I can hear her little feet going "swish, swish, swish" in the backseat. I love to hear her jabber to herself as she moves around the house, and she loves it even more if you follow behind her while she explores. I love this cute girl!

Sophie at 10 Months
  • 28.5 inches and 20 pounds
  • Got her 8th tooth so she now has an even four on top and four on bottom.
  • Takes two naps a day - most of her naps are unfortunately less than an hour, but every now and then she take a nice long one and it is such a treat :)
  • Can stand on her own for 5-10 seconds at time.
  • Has mastered going up the stairs, and  she can also successfully go back down a couple stairs without hurting herself.
  • If anything, loves being naked even more than she used to, which is why there are so many naked pictures on this blog (nakedness brings out her big smiles).
  • Loves anything that will open and close (microwave, doors, cupboards, drawers toys, your hand, etc...)
  • Food is her favorite thing right now, and she will eat pretty much anything. Last night she tried to snatch my fajita off my dinner plate, but I caught her and she had to settle for corn instead. Her diet is mostly fruit, veggies, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, small pieces of meat, and I still nurse 3-4 times a day.

And some other random pictures from this month:

Helping herself to a snack - this girl loves to eat and will find a way to get what she wants!

Howe Family Pictures

My sis-in-law Amy is an AMAZING photographer. Every shot she gets is better than anything I could ever do. Don't you love having talented people in the family? I love these!!

P.S. - These were taken only an hour after we finished the walkway & I think we cleaned up pretty nicely

Christmas in Texas - Everything Else

I'm still amazed by how much we fit into our trip to Texas, and yet we still seemed to run out time. We easily could have stayed another two weeks if we didn't have to get back to real life.

While there we also saw three movies (Saving Mr. Banks, Walter Mitty, and The Hobbit), celebrated Liam's 1st and Blake's 2nd birthday, learned some new games, had a New Year's Eve party with friends, and spent almost every day with family - thanks everyone for the great trip!!

The pink train from Grandma Howe - she loves it!!

Top Golf with the family - I hit the ball well, but not at any of the targets. If there was a flag in front of that sand trap on the right my score would have been awesome.

New Year's Eve for Sophie and her "friend cousins" - Malouf girls on the left, Sophie in the middle, and Walker girls on the right.

Bowling with the whole gang

And one last picture of this cute girl

Christmas in Texas - Little Cousins

I feel so far behind on the blog right now, even though I'm really not doing that bad. I'm still working on our trip to Texas over Christmas Break, which was only a couple weeks ago, but for some reason it feels like months have passed. January is just flying by for us!

There are six grand kids on the Howe side right now, and two are right close to Sophie's age (Sophie - 9 mos, Liam 12 mos, and Emma 14 mos).  It's going to be fun watching them grow up together!

Sophie learned to climb stairs on our trip and now knows why the cool kids hang out by the gate

Wishing they could outside to play

And Jack's not a little cousin, but Sophie had tons of fun with him in the hammock!

Christmas in Texas - Project Walkway

For Christmas this year the Howe siblings gave Dave's parents the gift of a new walkway. The old walkway from the sidewalk to the front door was starting to sink and the step gathered debris, so we wanted to removed the concrete and replace it with paver stones.

The cost would be almost $3000 to have it done professionally, so we decided to do it ourselves. Cindy was the mastermind behind the project and did all the research, planning, and measurements. The rest of us were laborers and did whatever Cindy said. The project took 3 days and turned out beautiful!!

... and After

Dave was outside helping the whole time time, but I was mostly inside helping wrangle the kiddos. I knew I wanted a turn on the jackhammer, though, so during nap time I snuck outside for a few minutes to live the dream. I didn't have any trouble using it to break off a piece of concrete, but the thing weighed almost as much as I did so moving it to the next place was too hard :)
