After 6 years at BYU (4 undergrad + 2 MBA) and 30+ intramural teams between the two of us, we are finally intramural champions!! And just in time - Dave graduates in just a couple weeks. We are sooooo excited!

We went to see Hunger Games, but the odds were not in our favor...

I first read Hunger Games a couple months after it was published. I thought it was really good, so after I finished, I handed it to Dave before going to bed and said, "Read this. I think you'll like it." I woke up the next morning and he was done.

We both were really excited to see the movie and got tickets to a show on Friday after we were done with school and work. Unfortunately for us, and all the other people in the theater, including kids, the movie that rolled was not Hunger Games, but Project X.

I know that not every minute of every R-rated movie is evil, but if the first few minutes of this movie were anything to go by, I think I'd be brain dead if I was forced to sit through the entire thing. It was crude, foul, and shocked my poor brain.

The theater manager came in to apologize and offered a free movie pass to every adult in the audience, and 2 free passes to every child (which just didn't feel like enough after what we experienced). It ruined the first part of the movie for me because I couldn't shake the disgusted feeling I had inside - it's not easy to enjoy yourself after something like that.

In the end, we thought Hunger Games was good, and without the bad horrible beginning, it probably would have been great. I sincerely hope everyone else who saw this over the weekend had a better experience.

Luck o' the Irish... We Won a Game!

On Saturday (St. Patrick's Day) the BYU MBA wives intramural football team won their first game ever - not the first of the season - but the first win ever. Up until Saturday, over three seasons, we were 0-15.

Our win came against a team that beat us earlier this season something like 50-0 (very sad), but the second time around we played so well!! The final score was 13-12, and it was a nail biter down to the end. Needless to say, we were thrilled!!

Breaking an Unbreakable Vow

About 5 years ago we went to a Denny's, looked at the breakfast menu, saw the basic plate of pancakes cost about $8 and walked out. On that day, Dave vowed that he would never eat at Denny's again.

Then Denny's came out with their $2 $ 4$ 6 $8 menu and Dave could not resist. This morning he ate his words, and we walked into Denny's and got 4 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 biscuits with gravy, and hashbrowns for 8 bucks. It wasn't the best breakfast ever, but it was tasty, and this time the price was right!!

Finally Some Snow!

Utah has had a less than spectacular ski season so far this year. It's been much warmer and drier than normal, and the mountains have really suffered. This last week, however, a storm blew in and Snowbird received over 3 feet of snow - hooray!!

This meant that come Saturday, we were anxious to get up to the mountain for some powder. Because of all the snow, however, Little Cottonwood Canyon was closed for a time while crews performed avalanche control work. We were in the line of cars at the mouth of the canyon waiting for the work to finish when our car reached a milestone - 100,000 miles!! Since we were currently creeping along at less than 5 miles an hour with frequent stops, I got out the camera to take a picture. :)

It was a good ski day, and hopefully we will have more like it this month. It was nice to finally be able to cruise down the mountain without having to worry about dodging all the exposed rocks, trees, and and other obstacles that are normally buried under the snow. And even though it was cloudy for most of the day, the sun did peak out just long enough to give us both a small sun burn on our cheeks and noses. You can't really tell from this picture, but our goggle tan line looked pretty awesome at church the next day.

And on our way home we passed this guy on I-15 - did you know that you can rent your own pirate ship and Captain Jack Sparrow impersonator for only $150 per hour? Just a tidbit you might want to keep in mind for your next party.
