Saturday

During the winter months, we normally spend our weekends at the cabin. Due to the abundance of sunshine however, we decided to spend this last weekend at home.

It was a wonderful couple days in which we were able to do a lot of things we normally never get around to on the weekend. Here are the highlights:
  • Sat on the couch and read
  • Took Jobe on a walk down by the lake trail and discovered that he likes water and climbing on rocks, but does not like people on bikes

  • Shopped for groceries, cleaned the bathroom (including the shower!), changed the sheets, did the laundry, ironed, vacuumed the house, and cleaned out the linen closet - phew!
  • Watched my bracket get shot to pieces. I guess now I'm cheering for UW to go all the way - go Dawgs!

  • Giving Dave a much needed haircut in the front entryway salon and am proud to report that it took me less than 20 minutes this time! The very first time I cut his hair it took about an hour.
  • Played several games of Agricola - I won some and lost some
  • Watched Life - we were amazed at the lengths the little poison dart frog took to care for her babies, and we laughed our heads off when the pebble toad threw himself of the cliff to avoid the spider!

Hope your weekend was as good as ours!

Good snow, bad cold

On Thursday we were blessed with snow storm that came out of nowhere! From our desks, Dave and I refreshed the resort website over and over to check the weather at the pass and snow accumulation - 17 inches! Not impressive compared to Utah, but pretty good by Washington standards!

We ran up to the mountains immediately after work to enjoy a night ski that my father described as "epic."

On Friday we drove up to the cabin once more, hoping to ski again the next day.

On Saturday I woke up and nudged Dave who just humphed at me and stayed buried in the covers. I left to eat breakfast and put my snow clothes on before trying to wake Dave again.

This time he sort of rumbled/growled at me, which I translated as "Sorry Mel, I can't make it today."

Sad to get sick on the one of the best ski days of the year... I would have felt sorry for him, but I was too busy having fun!

Nothing like a bomb threat from a vampire to start off your morning!

A few blocks near our building were closed down this morning after a man with a bomb-like device wired to his arm told people he was a vampire and wanted to eat people. The police and SWAT team were called in to investigate, and we were able to watch events unfold through a pair of binoculars. By far the most exciting thing to happen in the office today. The official story can be found here.

I'm guessing this guy may have been a bit delusional, but with Forks only a few hours from here, maybe he was telling the truth...

Happiness is

A mug of hot chocolate with double creamer on a frigid, frosty day. Mmmmm..... It may take awhile for my feet to warm up, but this is doing wonders for my hands and insides :)
